Cheyenne Eagle Saddle Blanket

Cheyenne Eagle Saddle Blanket

This blanket was designed by Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell. It tells the story of a Cheyenne warrior who came upon an eagle trapped in the antlers of a fallen elk. The eagle asked the warrior to free him, and promised him a gift if he freed the eagle. The warrior lifted the elk antlers, and as the eagle flew away he told the warrior to go over the next hill. There a beautiful horse waited, it's beautiful coat the same black and white pattern as the eagle's feathers.

Royalties from the sale of American Indian College Fund blankets go directly to provide scholarships for more than 5,000 tribal students yearly.
